To mainstream sustainable environmental management in Laikipia's arid and semi-arid areas, utilizing local communities as entry points for sustainable development.
SECCECO-Kenya emerged from a deep understanding of the environmental challenges facing Laikipia County's arid and semi-arid landscapes. Founded in 2018 and officially registered as a Community Based Organization (CBO) in 2023, we recognized that sustainable environmental management requires community-centered approaches.
Our work focuses on the unique challenges of arid and semi-arid areas, where water scarcity, land degradation, and climate variability directly impact community livelihoods. We believe that local communities are not just beneficiaries but essential partners in creating lasting environmental solutions.
Through partnerships with Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), Kenya Forest Service (KFS), the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), and Laikipia County Government, we implement practical solutions that address both immediate needs and long-term sustainability.
